Costs - how much does it cost to set up a website?
How much does a website cost? Well, the price depends on your requirements. Prices can range from a hundred pounds or so to thousands of pounds. As a simple rule of thumb, the price of a website is proportional to its size, functionality and the time taken to create it. In other words, the bigger your site and the more complex the graphic design and special features, the greater the cost.
Every website project is different, so there is no fixed formula for the price of web design. In any project, will will discuss your needs first and give you a written estimate before we start work. The figures below should give you some idea of how much you are likely to pay.
►One-page website including domain name, email address and hosting from £99
A simple 'brochure' website consisting of one page with one or two graphics. This package includes a domain name of your choice, an email address and hosting for one year. More information on budget websites.
►Five-page website including domain name, email address and hosting from £200
A simple website consisting of up to five pages. Each page can have one simple graphic or photograph. This package includes a domain name of your choice, an email address and hosting for one year. More information on template-based websites.
►Bespoke websites from £299
Bespoke websites can include any number of pages and graphics and are designed to meet your specifications. More information on bespoke websites.
►Small PayPal shops from £280
If you are a small business selling a limited range of goods, a PayPal shop may be the answer. Visitors can buy items from your site using PayPal for payment. More information on online shops.
►Large database online shops from £299
If you sell a large range of items, you will need an online shop with a shopping cart linked to the a payment system. You will be able to manage the shop yourself, uploading stock for sale and sending electronic invoices. Prices start at £299 but please contact us to discuss your needs. ►Budget websites for artists £99
We understand that not all artists need a large, bespoke website. All that is required is a simple showcase. Therefore we offer a budget website package consisting of a biography page, a contact page and a gallery consisting of up to 8 examples of work. The cost of this service is £99 (including a domain name and hosting for one year). All you need to do is email us your images, contact details and text for your biography page, and we will do the rest. Click here for an example.
Ongoing website costs
For as long as your website is active, you will need to pay a yearly hosting charge to your host. If we host your website, the hosting charge is £39.99 per year. Every two years you will need to pay a small fee to re-new your domain name.Optional extras

PayPal 'Buy' buttons
If you are selling a limited range of items on your website, PayPal 'Buy Now' buttons can be used as an entry level solution. Prices start at £30 for the first button, and £10 for each extra button. If you are selling downloads such as e-books, music or any other form of intellectual property, PayPal 'Buy Now' buttons can be used to pay for downloads.Other services
We offer a range of support services including maintenance (updating your website or adding extra pages/graphics/photographs) photo research and sourcing, logo design, photograph manipulation and copy writing all charged on a pro rata basis of £35 per hour.Urgent websites
If your need is urgent, depending on our work load, we can offer an express service where we can produce your site in a day or two. There is a 50% surcharge for this service.Websites that you can update yourself (content management systems)
We can set up your website so that you can edit the content yourself. We offer a variety of solutions depending on your needs. However, a maintenance agreement where we update your website for you is often a less time consuming and more cost effective solution. You should only opt for a content managed website if you are comfortable with using a computer and handing text and image files.
