Researching the competition - looking at other artist websites

Spend some time looking at the websites of other artists. There's no point in re-inventing the wheel - they will have put a lot of thought into their sites and you may be able to take some inspiration!

Ask yourself the following questions:

► How are their websites structured?

► What navigation system do they use?

► How many pages to they have?

► What colour schemes do they use?

► How many galleries do they have?

► How many images do they have in each gallery?

► Can the images be enlarged?

► Do they sell their work online? If so how?

► Which sites do you like best and why?

► What sites don't you like and why?

Make a note of any websites that you particularly like. They are always a good starting point for your website design phase.
