Research the competition - what are other people doing?
Spend some time looking at the websites of other musicians and music groups. There's no harm is looking at what others have done and taking some inspiration for your site:
► What is the general style of the site? Who is it aimed at?
► How is the website structured? Is it easy to use?
► What menu systems do they use? Where are the menus?
► How many pages to they have? Are there many layers of pages on the website?
► What colours do they use?
► What fonts do they use? How big are the fonts?
► What tone of voice is used on the site?
► Do they have a media player for sample tracks? If so, what sort?
► How many sample tracks are available?
► Do they have an image gallery? What sort of quality are the photos?
► Do they have an events calendar?
► Which sites do you like best and why?
► What sites don't you like and why?
