Identifying your target audience and positioning your website


Once you've set your objectives and formulated a mission statement for your site, begin to you need to think about your target audience and how you want to position your site.

Your aim should be to identify the sort of people who will be visiting your website (your target audience) and then position your site in such as way that they respond to it positively. Consider following factors about your target audience:

1. Demographic profile: age, gender, marital status, ethnicity, occupation etc
2. Geographic profile: country, county, city, town, size of population etc
3. Behavioural profile: reasons for visiting your site etc
4. Psychographic profile: interests, activities, opinions, attitudes etc

The answer to these questions will impact on the general look and feel of your site:
